Lance Reddick and Ian McShane will both be back for Chapter 4. Most recently, Hiroyuki Sanada ( Mortal Kombat) has also signed on to star. Keanu Reeves is of course coming back for John Wick: Chapter 4, with the cast thus far also including singer Rina Sawayama, Donnie Yen ( Ip Man, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Bill Skarsgård ( It, It: Chapter Two, “Castle Rock”), and Shamier Anderson ( Stowaway). Chad Stahelski ( John Wick 1-3) will again direct. Lionsgate is currently now set to release Chapter 4 on March 24, 2023.Ĭlancy Brown ( The Mortuary Collection, “Dexter”) will be making his way into the hit franchise in the upcoming fourth installment. Originally set for release on May 27, 2022, Lionsgate has announced with a short teaser video this afternoon that John Wick: Chapter 4 has moved all the way out of 2022 and into 2023. But given the pre-existing connections between the Alien and Blade Runner universes, this sure is an interesting little similarity worth noting.Īnd who knows. What does this all mean? Perhaps nothing. Towards the beginning of the trailer, we see several humanoid-like beings in glass cases, presumably inside the walls of the Tyrell Corporation – and one of them sure looks a whole hell of a lot like an Engineer.Ĭheck out the potential Easter egg at the 15-second mark:

I bring up this fun little connection because many fans this week believe they spotted an Engineer from Alien prequel Prometheus in the new Blade Runner 2049 trailer.

The two sci-fi classics deal with the idea of androids, and there are various little Easter eggs throughout Scott’s work that suggest they may actually exist within the same universe.įor example, eagle-eyed fans noticed years back that a bonus feature attached to Prometheus, plucked from Peter Weyland’s diary, seems to link Weyland to Eldon Tyrell, the Blade Runner character responsible for creating the Replicants… It’s interesting that both Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant and Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 are being released this year, because both franchises of course started off as Ridley Scott films – Alien was released in 1979, while Blade Runner came along in 1982. Another crazy fan theory? This one actually holds some water.
